Moving On

There’s a rainbow on the rainy window,
Colours sparkle through tiny drops.
They slide down, rivulets making snake like patterns
It’s raining outside.

It’s time to move on, time to let go.
They say it’s hard, but all you gotta do is try
The first step will forever be the hardest.

The green is somehow greener outside,
The thrum of the raindrops fill your ears.
The clouds part for that ray of magical sunlight,
And you laugh at the ridiculousness.

Dogs bark and cars honk, life is going on,
Yes, it hurts, but nobody waits.
The wind plays with the strands of your hair
Wrecking that perfect hair that took hours to set.

Laugh as the rain comes through your window,
Feel the chill as it settles on your skin.
Put your hands out and bring them back soaked.
Enjoy the fact that life doesn’t stop.

Picture Perfect

A smile on your face, maybe a dimple
Absorb the sunlight, a cocoon of warmth
The colours surround you, rich and bright
Life is never picture perfect.

Sounds of laughter, the bark of my dog
Running in the wind, rain on your face
Spinning until the world’s a blur
Life is never picture perfect.

Pink fuzzy light up balls, pictures of butterflies
Crepe paper, cartoons and caramel apples
The colour purple, lava lamps and postcards
Life could be picture perfect.
