Moving On

There’s a rainbow on the rainy window,
Colours sparkle through tiny drops.
They slide down, rivulets making snake like patterns
It’s raining outside.

It’s time to move on, time to let go.
They say it’s hard, but all you gotta do is try
The first step will forever be the hardest.

The green is somehow greener outside,
The thrum of the raindrops fill your ears.
The clouds part for that ray of magical sunlight,
And you laugh at the ridiculousness.

Dogs bark and cars honk, life is going on,
Yes, it hurts, but nobody waits.
The wind plays with the strands of your hair
Wrecking that perfect hair that took hours to set.

Laugh as the rain comes through your window,
Feel the chill as it settles on your skin.
Put your hands out and bring them back soaked.
Enjoy the fact that life doesn’t stop.
